Amazon to get Govt’s approval for 24X7 operation


Amazon is one of the 314 businesses that have been granted approval to operate 24/7 in the national capital and a notification in this regard will soon be sent within a week, Officials from Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena said.

This approval will enable Amazon to make round the clock delivery of products in Delhi. The LG has also ordered that such kind of applications should be disposed of within a strict timeline so as to induce an investor and business friendly environment in the capital city.

Amazon had submitted this application three years ago and in total 314 entities including hotels, restaurants, eateries, online delivery services of food, medicines, logistics and other essential services such as transport and travel services apart from KPOs and BPOs will be able to operate and carry on their business on a 24X7 basis in Delhi.

This decision is actually an exemption under Sections 14, 15, 16 of the Delhi Shops and Establishments Act1 1954. This decision will help in boosting employment generation and promote a positive and favourable business environment in the national capital.

The LG has also instructed the Labour Department to ensure that delays do not occur in future and a suitable mechanism be developed for effective and transparent monitoring with reasons for delay or pendency to be ascertained for quick disposal of applications in order to enhance ease of doing business.
